She is the author of “I Am the Best at Being Me” and co-founder of Nikivan Books. With over 15 years of experience working working in the human services field as a direct care provider, behavior specialist, service coordinator, and program coordinator for adults with special needs, Nikki brings real-world experience to her work. She has made it her mission to ensure that every child feels valued, seen, and included.

I Am The Best At Being Me

“I Am The Best at Being Me” was inspired by a child Nikki supported who had Down syndrome, blindness, hearing loss, and communicated using sign language. When the child’s mother shared that he had no friends, it inspired Nikki to create a book that introduces young children to disabilities early so they grow up comfortable including everyone.

Throughout her career, Nikki has heard countless parents share the same concerns: “I want to get my child involved in activities so they can make friends.” This book is her response—a heartfelt effort to inspire inclusivity and encourage students to see and treat each other with kindness, understanding, and respect. Through “I Am The Best At Being Me,” Nikki aims to educate students of all abilities to build friendships rooted in empathy, kindness, and understanding. Her vision is a school environment where every child feels like they belong – and no child is left out.
