About the Author

Nikki Johnson is the author of “I Am The Best at Being Me” and co-founder of Nikivan Books.
Before becoming an author, Nikki spent years working in the human services field supporting individuals with special needs and their families.
She began her career as a Direct Care Provider, later becoming a Behavior Specialist, then a Service Coordinator, and eventually a Program Coordinator for a day program serving adults with special needs.
Through these roles, Nikki worked closely with individuals and families across the lifespan, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges, joys, and realities of the disability community.
Her authorship was inspired by a child she supported who had Down syndrome, blindness, hearing loss, and communicated using sign language. When the child’s mother shared that he had no friends, it inspired Nikki to create a book that introduces young children to disabilities early so they grow up comfortable including everyone.
Nikki is also the host of “All The Abili-Tea”, a radio show focused on disability awareness, advocacy, and community resources.
